Thanks for your advise, Dave. What I ended up doing is to search the last occurrence of the space character at each 1000 character set in my email body, and I inserted CRLF just before that space and continued searching from that point on. And guess what? It worked and did not add that extra space in lieu of my CRLF.
I have tested the email I generated by sending it to different email accounts I have in Lotus Notes, Outlook 2003, Comcast, and Yahoo. They all work fine with the exception of Outlook 2003, which still keeps that exclamation point plus the space after that. I am curious if you know whether or not Outlook 2003 has a known issue that this workaround does not work with it.
