SMTP Protocol/Network Related Exceptions

All my message ended up in Queue folder under mailroot directory [ Reply ]
I used Window 2K SMTP Service to send email message. The SMTP work fine and able to send the message to the SMTP service but all the mail message sit in the Queue folder. None of the mail will be sent out. I did not receive any error message. What has possibly caused my mail message to sit in the queue folder.

  I had this too - look in the event log (application log). There will be some warnings with source SMTPSVC, details of which should tell you what the problem is.

SMTP server works from Outlook [ Reply ]
Exception has been thrown by the target of an invocation. ---> System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException (0x80040211): The message could not be sent to the SMTP server. The transport error code was 0x800ccc15. The server response was
not available.

Instead of
SmtpMail.SmtpServer = "mailserver"
I use
SmtpMail.SmtpServer.Insert(0, "mailserver")

in which case I get no exception but the mail never arrives. The SMTP server is a specialized server that converts the emails to SMS but this should be transparent from .net because I can do this from outlook. Doesn't outlook use CDO etc?

Problem with mail sending usig different server Address [ Reply ]
Hi

I have problem with mail sending using different server address where our website is not hosted,i used different server address for mail sending the mail mails r going only when we r sending the mails to the ids that r in the given server,while sending to the other id's the error message "Could not access 'CDO.Message' object" is comming.
Any body help me regarding this.

I have created some sorta form and i want the informaiton that the user fills in to be sent to my email @mydomain upon hitting the submit button.

Problems sending email from Web Application [ Reply ]
I read many of the suggestions in this post and tried most of them, but nothing that I read was helping. Eventually I found the solution and ot was dead simple. Very much worth putting in to this post.
My ASP.NET webapplication was supposed to send email with invoice to customers shopping at the website. All the time I had my MailServer property set to smtp.mailserver.com (or similar). It never worked and I tried various schema settings etc. for SmtpMail, but to no avail. Then I went to my host's FAQ and found that the setting for the SmtpServer HAD TO BE 'localhost'. I assume it is to stop spam etc...
As soon as I changed that it worked beautifulle without any extra schema settings etc...
